Doctrine requires that a party who has elected to hold back from first proceeding on a related component of the controversy among the parties be barred from thereafter raising it in a subsequent proceeding. Wm. Blanchard Co. v. Beach Concrete Co., Inc., 150 N.J.Super. 277, 375 A.2d 675, 683. Under this doctrine, "entire controversy," rather than its constituent causes of action, is the unit of litigation and joinder of all such causes of action, is compulsory under penalty of forfeiture.
